Buy a Backpack, Feed a Family

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. “We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates  Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a  means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated  sites.” You can read my full disclosure by clicking on the disclosure policy in the menu above.

Every now and then I come across a product that makes so much sense, I want to purchase it immediately! That is what happened when I learned about RiceLove. I was immediately taken by their awesome one of a kind designs and cool vibe. Then I learned more about their commitment to change the world, one bag of rice at a time.  When you buy a backpack, you feed a family. Their products are constructed with recycled materials, and each bag is uniquely yours. I instantly became a fan!

Feed a Family

BackPacks from RiceLove.Org provide Rice for Families in Need in India.

My Introduction to RiceLove.Org

My daughter Victoria mentioned the company to me in a passing conversation. Truly, I did not pay enough attention during the conversation. She left a note on my desk with a list of amazing companies that have great products but are also working to change the world for the positive. Later in the week I looked up RiceLove, and was an instant fan! Since learning of RiceLove I have joined their Brand Advocate Program. All of the opinions in this post are fully my own as always. I do receive a small commission on sales which help to fund this blog and I am able to offer a discount coupon to you (more on the coupon later in this post).

First, I want to share why RiceLove is so amazing! Upon learning about the company, I purchased my first Travel Back Pack from RiceLove. I would like to say that the RiceLove Travel BackPack is truly mine, it is not. It was quickly confiscated by my daughter Torianna who is a Senior in High School.  The evening after these pictures were taken I noticed that the bag was missing from my desk. So, I started asking who in the house might have it. Torianna said that she loved it so much during the photo session that she decided it would be her bag this year!

A Bag that Starts a Conversation

Since then, Tori has used the RiceLove Travel BackPack to carry books, carry swim party supplies, and used it as a purse when traveling. She loves the many pockets and compartments. Torianna has found that it is really comfortable, and loves the overall look. But, I think the reason she loves it the most, are those conversations that the bag starts. The label clearly shares the message “Rice Love- Buy A Bag, Feed A Family”. Torianna enjoys sharing the story of this unique bag. By purchasing it, 1 Kilo of much-needed rice is given to a family. As a girl who loves school, youth group, and swim parties, she also reflects frequently on the need in the world. Knowing that something can be done in a fashionable and affordable way to support those in need is a message that my teen, as well as myself, connect well with.

So, how Exactly does the RiceLove program work?

Each time a Travel Back Pack, or any product on RiceLove.Org, is purchased from RiceLove, 1 Kilo of Rice is designated for a family in need. The Rice from 25 different purchases is combined and one family receives 25 Kilos of Rice which is enough for a one month supply. In US terms this is about 55 pounds. This might seem like a lot of rice for one month, many families eat Rice as a staple for 3 meals a day. That is why it is such a blessing to these families in need.

Once you receive your Travel Back Pack, you receive a tag that identifies the family which received the Rice. You can input your Bag # into the website, and you will see a picture of the family, as well as learn a little more about them. It is really exciting to see the end of the story of your purchase. I believe the transparent nature of this process adds excitement to the purchase.

How They Do It

RiceLove.Org has a great section on their website titled, “How We Give”. It shares great information on the need, as well as what they as an organization are doing to support the need primarily in India.
