The Bouqs Co.
I often purchase flowers locally at the farmers market, the grocery store or through the local florists. And, I love having flowers on my table and sometimes, on my desk. My belief is that they fully dress a room, and their aroma can lighten my mood. I also believe that they add a softness to the table and remind all who dine at the table that they are special. And that is a good thing. And of course, I love supporting local Flower Farmers in the process.
I frequently not only purchase flowers for myself, but purchase them for friends, family, and associates. Fresh flowers bring the outside inside, and truly make the recipient feel cared for, special, noticed, and loved.
What is Bouqs?
The Bouqs Company was established in 2012, so although they are a relatively new company in the online flower market, they are well seasoned in Farm to Table flowers. They are so sure of their ability to provide excellent flowers and service, that they offer a 100% “Happiness Guarantee”.
The Order Process was very simple. I went online to Bouqs.com and perused the many choices. I decided on a bouquet that included a succulent that could be replanted when the rest of the bouquet has reached the end of it’s journey. Succulents are so easy to care for, so I know that they will grow for years to come. I received instant notification that my order was received, as well as a notification once the order was shipped that included FedEx tracking information. While on the website, if you have any challenge deciding on which flowers, or have a specific questions, you can use the “Chat” feature located on the bottom right of the screen for help.
Bouqs uses “Farm Direct Sourcing”. Their website says that they, “Partner with eco-friendly farms that minimize waste, recycle water, and use sustainable growing practices”. By cutting out the middleman, the flowers last longer on our table, which we all want, right? I was incredibly pleased when the flowers arrived in a non-shiny, recyclable cardboard box, with no cellophane tape. Once inside, I was pleasantly surprised to see that both the box, and a pamphlet inside reminded me how to best care for the flowers to maximize their lifespan and bloom.
The Flowers Were Wrapped In Paper
The flowers were wrapped in paper instead of plastic which I also found very desirable. I work to make purchases that are eco friendly and sustainable and was very pleased that Bouqs honors these values. They also sent a packet of flower food, which will help the flowers to be healthy as long as possible. Because I purchased a double bouquet, they included two packets of the flower food, so I saved one for next week when I refresh the water in the vase.
When I first unpacked the flowers, I felt that they were a little dry or tired looking. ½ an hour after cutting the base stems at a diagonal and putting them into the vase with their flower food and water, they were full and amazing! I have found that this often happens with shipped flowers.
I was also very happy to notice that the succulent portion of the bouquet came with a small water container attached so that they would continue to have what they needed in shipment, but also in the vase since succulents are typically very short stemmed.
When you order through Bouqs you can choose their classic vase, or a Bouqs branded mason jar. I chose the mason jar, and love that it is a large size vase, but with the comfortable flair of a mason jar. I think it looks lovely on my table!
Subscription versus single order
Bouqs.com has the option to place a subscription order, or a single order. I personally ordered a single order, but I love the savings availability when you order a subscription of bouquets. And truthfully, who would not want to have flowers regularly arriving. With a subscription you save 30% off the price and receive free shipping. Plus, you can change recipients for different months, all while having the flexibility to customize the size of bouquet and flowers, as well as the ability to cancel at any time.
