Shopping through CauseBox

January 24, 2018 Posted by 7thyearproductions@gmail.com Uncategorized 23 Comments

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. “We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates  Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a  means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated  sites.” You can read my full disclosure by clicking on the disclosure policy in the menu above.

I love to shop…I really, really love to shop! Because I love to shop, I work hard to ensure that the products I am purchasing have value. Really, I want to be an intentional shopper. So with that in mind, I try to find items that fit my needs, but also fill other’s needs as well. I give preference to items that help those in need, grow skills in those who want to gain strength in their community, and that are good for the environment.

While surfing social media I ran across Causebox, which is a curated box of items sent on a quarterly basis. It is similar to BirchBox and Itsy, just focused on items that are, in general, working toward the social good.

Time for disclosure…

I did not receive this box for free. I didn’t ask. Once I found the company on social media I thought, I want that! I felt like I was purchasing a present for myself, since I would be unpacking a gift of which I had no knowledge of the contents. In addition, I have a tendency to support good causes and so a subscription box named CauseBox immediately spoke to me.

Upon placing my order for the Winter Causebox, I waited with anticipation for it to arrive. Subscribing to curated collections via subscription boxes is always a treat. I love the Christmas Morning feel of opening a box someone else has picked out for you. It makes me feel very festive and well cared for, if even just by myself!

The “Hex” Bracelet by Half United

Hex Bracelet

Hex Bracelet By Half United

The beautiful “Hex” bracelet is created by Half United’s origins, co-founder Christian Black. Half united partners with a school in Fiji and each purchase helps to feed the children of the school. Every purchase donates seven meals to the school. There is a beautiful story about the creation of the bracelet and its significance in the booklet that accompanies each CauseBox. Find more information about the company here.

My New Favorite Candle from Level Naturals

Level Naturals Candle

Lavender and Chamomile candle from Level Naturals

My favorite piece in the Winter edition of the Causebox is the LEVEL Naturals  candle. I am probably biased because I love candles. First, I light a candle every morning when I head to my desk. And then as the day progresses, I will usually burn another candle. Finally nothing speaks calm evening to me like the warmth of a candle flame glowing in the dark.

The Level Naturals Candle is scented Lavender and Chamomile. Both incredibly relaxing scents. It is a soy Candle using non-toxic wax bases and all-natural essential oils. The thing I love most about the Level Candle is that it has a lead free wick that lights with one match. It was very simple to light (sometimes candles on their first lighting can be a bit of a struggle).   To purchase this candle go to Causebox.com, Level Naturals, or purchase using my Amazon links at the end of this post.

Honest Beauty Magic Balm

I have been familiar with the  Honest Company, as my Sister in Law purchases their diapers for her daughter. She, and several others I have known, have been quite pleased with the Honest Company. I was not familiar though with Honest Beauty which is a division of “The Honest Company”. All of their items are guaranteed to be made without harmful ingredients. The average woman puts 16+ products on her skin every day, so having products without harmful ingredients is an additional key to good health.

The Magic Balm can be used on lips, skin, cuticles, and I think is perfect for winter chapped skin. It has a nice light texture that is not too heavy like a lot of balms. I am loving it on my winter dry hands and lips!

And now for a little fun and games at the table

This Winter’s  Causebox is not just about Art, Skincare, Candles, and Cuddly items, it has a great activity as well.  Our family loves to play games that drive conversation and introspection. The cards, “Forty Nine Great Questions”, was developed by the Causebox team after a long car trip.  I looked through the cards and they are filled with thought provoking questions that will bring you closer to those in the room, while possibly bringing a few laughs and tears into the mix.

Our family used them as conversation starters at dinner the night I received the Causebox and we had a long thought provoking conversation. Our dinner table consisted of family members aged 17 to 77, and all were thoroughly engaged.

The outside of the box was beautifully decorated. At first, I thought this was the company design, but it was specifically designed by two architects, Maggie and Colleen Clines of the Anchal Project. It was inspired by an artisan in Kolkata.

As I continued to pull contents from the box, I was impressed by the quality and design of the Table Runner by Tribe Alive. It has a beautiful graphic and can be used as a table runner, or as a wall hanging. The table runner was made by artisans in Jaipur, India.

And Finally the Pom Pom Beanie

The Pom Pom Beanie from Krochet Kids International is a beautiful beanie is made of cream and metallic yarn and is incredibly soft and well made. I loved reading about the story of the Krochet Kids Intl founders and their foray into crochet during High School. Krochet Kids Intl. gives employment opportunities to women in Uganda, Peru, and Kohl to hand craft these quality beanies. This builds skills and the women earn a wage,  also giving hope for a better future. Each woman signs the inside tag of the beanie sharing in a sense of ownership over the process, and pride in craftsmanship. I have a personal soft spot for any company that works to aid those living in Uganda after reading Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis. You can read more about her mission and the book here.

The Winter Collection from Causebox is wonderful!

So, here I sit next to my beautiful new candle with the scent of lavender gently filling the air, warm in my Krochet Kids Beanie, with soft hands thanks to the Magic Balm. Having hung the Fylla Giessing artwork in a frame on the wall, I put away a few of the items to give as gifts over the next month. Excitement fills my mind as I think of playing forty nine great questions at my next gathering of friends and family.

My conclusion is that the value of this box far exceeds the purchase price. At the time of this writing, the cost is $49.95 per season for $150+ in value. The value is not only in the huge discount CauseBox gives to their subscribers, but because of the lives changed by many of the products, and the clean nature of the items. I hope you check out www.CauseBox.com.  I am certain that you will also find pleasure as a box full of delights arrives quarterly on your doorstep.

Wow, that’s awesome! I don’t have any idea there is a subscription box like that. I only knew local crops that does it in my City. Anyway, it’s cool that you got those useful items plus you’re helping your local small businesses i assume 🙂 Thanks for sharing 🙂

I begun listing my favourite items, but soon realised they are *all* my favourites.

I’ll most definitely be looking into the honest company a little more once pay day comes around.
I also felt inspired by your introduction, your need for an item to serve two purposes. It’s such a thoughtful way to live a life.

Thank you for sharing these x
