Causebox Overview

“We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.”

Spring has arrived!

Spring is here, and so is the arrival of the Spring Causebox!!! I love that Causebox sends a thoughtfully curated box of items that make a difference. I work hard to ensure that the products I am purchasing have value. Like you, I want to be an intentional shopper. With that in mind, I try to find items that fit my needs, but also fill other’s needs. When I am shopping, I work hard to give preference to items that hold my same values. For instance, I love donation with purchase items. Additionally, I want to purchase products that build job skills in underdeveloped countries. Finally, I give preference to items that are good for the environment.

What is Causebox all about?

If you have not heard of Causebox, it is a curated subscription box of items sent on a quarterly basis. It is similar to BirchBox and Ipsy, just focused on items that are, in general, working toward the social good.

Time for a disclosure…I did not receive this box for free. I didn’t ask. After noticing the company on social media, I thought to myself, I want that! I felt like I was purchasing a present for myself, since I would be unpacking a gift of which I had no knowledge of the contents. And, I loved it! This is the second box I have received, and I must say I am just as excited about the Spring box as I was about the Winter box.

Why I love Causebox

First, everything about Causebox is intentional, from the items in the box, the accompanying information booklet, as well as the box design. This season’s box was designed by London artist Marylou Faure. I noticed on Instagram that there were two possible designs that could be received, I received the Green Box. It is a flowery welcome into Spring, and I loved receiving it on a dismal rainy day, where all of my other packages were delivered in basic brown. This box brought a smile to my face.  Inside the box you receive a 5×7 Art Print that can also be used as a Post Card!

Causebox - Spring Edition

Spring Causebox- Overview

Silver Bow Earrings by SOKO

I was so excited to see a few spoilers on social media prior to the box arriving. My excitement was boosted when I realized the box would contain silver earrings from SOKO. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I knew they would be the perfect gift to give my mother. Soko  is a wonderful company that has created a system of artisans in remote locations, who work together on a common product line which is then resold via web and major retailers.

Visit Soko’s website and you will be excited and encouraged as you view their business process and philosophy. Under Impact, their website states, “We’re pioneering Ethical Fast Fashion, aligning handmade talent from emerging markets with the international fashion consumer”. Isn’t that what we all want to take part in supporting? The delicate silver bow earrings are so beautiful. They catch the light, and add the perfect amount of silver to day, while also being sleek enough for a night out.

Causebox Spring

Kimono and Bow Earrings

Kimono by Symbology

An exclusive, handmade Kimono made in Jaipur, India is included in the Spring Cause Box created by Symbology. It has a light airy feel about it, just as you would expect from a spring Kimono. It is a lovely peachy pink which will contrast so well with black and gray. When I put it on for the first time, a million outfit ideas whirled through my mind! The amazing thing about the Kimono is that I had three different women, all of varying size from Small to Plus size try it on. And, it fit on everyone. It had a slightly different shape on each, but was comfortable and attractive.

Symbology employs women in India, and the West bank allowing them to earn a livable wage, provide for their family, and grow stable communities. The founder of Symbology, Marissa Heyl grew her business with a focus on Social Enterprise. I personally love it when companies grow keeping a focus on both profits, and the power to change the world. Heyl studied in the Kutch district in Western India. There she studied and documented Fair Trade and it’s impact on the local women. Her love for the people and art of the surrounding area, appears to have inspired her beautiful designs.

Causebox- Rosehip Beauty Oil

Rosehip Beauty OilScentuals Rosehips Oil

Rosehips Beauty Oil by Scentuals

The founder of Scentuals, Mai Mowrey, shares her journey to creating the line of products in the Good News booklet enclosed in the Cause box. A family illness led her on a path of discovery,  that eventually turned into Scentuals. Now, Scentuals partners with the Canadian Cancer Society and donates a percentage of profits to the CCS’s Cancer research.  I love supporting companies that support something bigger than just profits.

A trip to the companies website shows that Scentuals is a “Toxin Free” and Cruelty Free” Company. The company only uses all natural ingredients and works to formulate products that will have a healthy and healing effect on the skin.  I must admit, I have never used an oil like this before. The directions suggest that you put it on dry areas of your face, or fine lines and wrinkles after cleansing. I must admit that I fell in love with the very light scent, and applied liberally to my arms and hands as well. Upon first use I have realized I am a huge fan of the Scentuals line, and went to Amazon to purchase additional items.

Causebox- Spring Edition

Bloom & Give Tea Towels and Juice Beauty Mascara

Tea Towels by Bloom & Give

Another company I was introduced to in the Spring Causebox is Bloom and Give. The founders of Bloom and Give lived and worked in the US for over 20 years before realizing that they wanted to not only reconnect with India, but to support the craftsmanship of artisans in India. Soon, this desire gave birth to Bloom and Give. You can visit the Boom and Give website to find a wealth of information on India, textile creations, as well as the companies mission to give back. I fell in love with the textiles and items for sale on the website and instantly wanted everything!

The company donates 10% of their profits to Girl’s Education in India through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. They share the staggering statistics that in India, only 1 in every 100 girls finishes High School. The average age of marriage is only 14, and most are mothers by 18. Founders Madhu and Partha are both Fathers, and because of this want to see girls empowered to have different lives than they otherwise would have. I highly recommend a visit to their website .The two Tea Towels made in India are very well crafted, a color that would fit in all kitchens, and are nicely packaged with a little bow.

Ultra Natural Mascara by Juice Beauty

Juice Beauty was founded by Karen Bankhe after learning more about the ingredients in typical beauty products. I found it incredibly interesting that the Ultra Natural Mascara included in the Cause Box includes purple carrots instead of chemicals to achieve the desired color. I was also surprised to learn that Juice Beauty has been around for 12 years. Looking over the website I find that Juice Beauty is dedicated to using Clean ingredients in their products. I looked on Amazon and found a huge number of products that I would love to try!

Causebox-Diffuser

Spring Causebox- Reed and Amber Diffuser

Amber & Moss Reed Diffuser by P.F.Candle Co.

Time for more truth. I have never used a Diffuser. I love candles and fresh flowers, and have always used them to add a pleasing aroma to my home. I immediately loved the Amber and Moss fragrance received in the Spring Causebox. The instructions said to simply place the reeds in the bottle and turn weekly or more often if more aroma is desired.

The fragrance oil is created by P.F. Candle a California based company created by Kristen Pumphrey, and then joined by her Husband Tom Neuberger. I love a quote by Tom in the booklet, “That’s the moral of the story; we’re just real people who worked hard and care about each other, our employees, and the planet. I hope we’re able to use our hard work to do something good in the world”. Isn’t that what we all want? I do. P.F. Candle Co. donates a portion of their proceeds to the Downtown Women’s Center in LA, as well as other causes.

Receiving the Cause Box Spring edition is more than just products arriving on my door. I feel like I have had an education in both Socent business practices, and also learned so much more about the rest of the world. The booklet that is included in each box holds a wealth of information, and the stories are so well crafted, the reader is compelled to read on.

Causebox- Spring Edition Overview

Causebox- Spring Edition Overview

So, here I sit surrounded by the light scent of Amber and Moss provided by my new Reed Diffuser by PF Candle Co., feeling fresh and moisturized by the Scentuals Rosehip beauty oil, ready for an evening in, or night out wearing my Symbology Kimono and Juice Beauties Ultra-Natural Mascara. Truth be told, I will probably be drying dishes with the Bloom & Give Tea Towels, instead of going out, but a girl can dream. Also, in all honesty, I didn’t make it through writing this blog post before giving my Mom the beautiful silver earrings by Soko.

What about the Value?

Overall, the value of this box far exceeds the purchase price. Not just because of the huge discount CauseBox gives to their subscribers, but because of the lives changed by many of the products, and the clean nature of the rest. I hope you check out www.CauseBox.com.  I am certain that you will also find pleasure in a box full of delights arriving quarterly on your doorstep. You can also learn more about the Winter edition of Cause Box  and it’s Artisans by clicking on my post here.

So, what are your favorite Socent (Social Enterprise) products? What is your favorite clean beauty company? Do you give preference to companies that give back, enrich the lives of those in third world countries, and give back in your community as well? I like the convenience of having it sent to you but I don’t know how much of this stuff I actually need. It’s a great idea and business for what they have created.
