I love to shop…
I really, really love to shop! I work harder than I did in the past, to ensure that the products I am purchasing have value. Really, I want to be an intentional shopper. With that in mind, I try to find items that fit my needs, but also fill the needs of others. I try to give preference to items that are good for the environment. When I first ran across Causebox on Social Media, I instantly loved that it is a curated box of items sent on a quarterly basis. However, it is so much more than that. It is similar to BirchBox and Etsy, just focused on items that are, in general, working toward the social good.
Time for a disclosure…I did not receive this box for free. I didn’t ask. I noticed the company on social media, and thought, I want that! It felt like I was purchasing a present for myself, since I would be unpacking a gift of which I had no knowledge of the contents. I loved it!
“We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.” Throughout this post I have shared products from the companies in this season’s causebox that are available through Amazon. Simply click on the photo, and you will be on Amazon.
Previously, I have received both the Winter 2018 and Spring 2018 editions of Causebox. I loved what I received and am using many of the gifts myself , while gifting a few to family. Hence, I could not wait for the Summer Box to arrive. I was not disappointed!!!
The Turkish Towel
The Turkish Towel is produced by the Fair Seas Supply Co. Fair Seas Supply Co. uses only Organic Cotton, and a reduced footprint supply chain to produce their goods. The Turkish Towel is lightweight, and able to be used as a towel, wrap, or sarong, so it makes the perfect accompaniment to a trip to the beach. I love the light feel, summer yellow, and the easy of care.
The Tribe Alive Clutch
“The Tribe Alive Clutch” produced by Tribe Alive is perfect for an easy summer day on the town. For the Summer Edition of Causebox, there were three options that you could choose from prior to the release. I decided to take my chances and was very pleased when the pink clutch arrived…my favorite color is pink! It is made of high quality materials, and the craftsmanship is very strong. I love that it has a tassel, as everything has a tassel this year, or should! It is roomy enough to carry a wallet, shades, and a few necessities, but not so large that it would be too bulky as a clutch.
Tribe Alive is an amazing sustainable clothing company, but when you arrive at their website you will find so much more! From apparel to home fashion, and even notebooks made from recycled clothing, Tribe Alive is an exciting adventure in shopping!
The Tassel Necklace by Kevia
The founder of Kevia jewelry, Kevia Jeffrey-West has lived with a passion for the environment, and recycling. She brought this mindset to her work as a jewelry designer. Her company is careful to source items, and use a supply chain method that will be conscientious of both the impact on the environment, and the team who produce the jewelry. She was worked to encourage positive work environments for her suppliers in China, as well as producing products closer to their original source.
In addition, Kevia is making a positive impact while also minimizing it’s negative impact. The “Good News” pamphlet included in each addition of Causebox shares that Kevia has planted nearly 15,000 trees as well as donating to breast cancer awareness. There are many other amazing projects that Kevia is involved in all over the world. This is the type of company that I truly want to spend my shopping dollars with, as they go much further than just the point of purchase and profit.
The Tassel Necklace that is included in the Causebox is so versatile. It is shown as being worn in 6 different ways, but I believe the possibilities could be endless. It is a Gold chain finished with a white tassel on both ends. This necklace would be perfect for a casual outfit, as well as stun with a little black dress. I love this piece and want to keep it…but I think I will probably share it with my daughters.
L’Occitane Shower Oil
I have always been a brand loyal fan of L’Occitane because their products are high quality and I can see a positive difference in my skin when I use them. I did not realize they have such an exciting story of inspiration and history. While reading the “Good News” booklet that L’Occitane was founded in 1976 and was an initiator in essentials oils market, as well as using natural products for beauty care! The company has supported the reintroduction of over 17,000 Almond trees, which are indigenous to a region of France. In addition, L’Occitane has made a commitment to sustainable farming practices.
I love to use a product that I enjoy, but even more so, I appreciate products that give back to their community, and the world in general. The L’Occitane Foundation, through it’s ” Women in Leadership” program in Burkina Faso, has helped 10,000 women learn to read and write. This in and of itself, not to mention their other amazing philanthropic and sustainable practices, is a good reason to purchase L’Occitane products.
Included in the Summer Causebox is L’Occitane’s Almond Shower Oil. I have personally used this product for years, and was so excited to receive another bottle. It has a pleasant almond aroma, and leaves skin so very soft and healthy feeling. The Shower Oil is great to splash on after a shower, use as a shaving agent, or put on after being out in the sun or wind.
Zoya Nail Polish
Prior to this edition of the Causebox, I had not heard of Zoya polishes and nail care. I was excited to learn that Zoya does not use 5 of the 10 most toxic chemicals typically used in nail polish. The Zoya nail products are made in the USA, and are cruelty-free which is important to look for when purchasing beauty items. In addition, the products are all Vegan. I love the wide range of colors, as well as the opportunity to purchased hydrating products for nails and hands.
Karuna Face Masks
Prior to receiving this edition of Causebox, I was not familiar with the Karuna brand. I became an instant fan based on the companies giving campaigns. In the words of founder Linda Wang, “We work with a local organization called Beauty Bus, and they have a van and drive around to homes, hospitals, the Ronald McDonald House, where members of our team would go volunteer or provide products for professional beauticians to perform beauty treatments for caretakers, and patients in life-threatening situations” as quoted from the Good News booklet received in the Causebox. What a wonderful program to help those who are facing huge challenges to feel cared for, even nurtured. The world Karuna means Sanskrit, and it shows through how the company takes care of the people around them.
The masks that arrived in the Causebox are Antioxidant masks. They are specifically to help your skin be ready and recover from the harsh summer season. I am so excited to have self care night, and relax with the mask, knowing it is helping to protect my skin and rejuvenate my skin. When I looked on the Karuna website as well as Amazon, I noticed many different varieties that will help with various skin needs. I am very excited to try them all!
d.still reusable water bottle
The D.stil reusable water bottle can help to make a big impact on the world, all while stylishly brightening your day! I love the look of the bottle as well as all of the extra features that were thoughtfully included its design. The bottle has a delicate color and it’s perky shape. I am often a guilty user of plastic water bottles, so anything that inspires me to reuse, and reduce plastic waste is a good thing. This water bottle does. I love that d.stil partners with Water.Org to which offers communities “water-specific micro-financing solutions”. Everyone needs access to clean water, and D.stil supports those efforts.
If that is not enough to motivate you to use a reusable water bottle, I was shocked by the statistics included in the Good News booklet. “By 2050, the ocean will contain more plastic by weight than fish, and that plastic takes 400 years to decompose”. Wow! That is something that we need to commit to change, and this d.stil bottle is a stylish way to help.
I loved the Summer Edition Causebox
Also included in the Causebox Summer edition is a postcard artwork created by Coco Davez. It would make a great postcard to send to a friend, but would also be suitable for framing. And it is so lively and filled with color. The exterior box decoration is also created by this Spanish artist, and I must say that I was delighted to see it arrive in all of it’s festive, and lively summer colors!
