The Best Peach Dump Cake Recipe…
That you will want to eat all summer!
Super Easy Summer Peach Dump Cake
Are you looking for an easy summer dump cake recipe that your family and friends will love, and you will want to make and enjoy all summer? This is the best summer peach dump cake recipe! A little like a Peach Cobbler Recipe, a little like a dump cake, the flavors of summer with abound in this delicious treat!
I originally found this recipe when I was looking through a PBS Pledge Drive Cookbook called “America’s Home Cooking- Comfort Food”. I had made a small pledge, probably $10 a month after watching a cooking show during the pledge drive and received this small cookbook in the mail a few weeks later.
The first recipe I tried was titled “Peaches and Cream”, which is a version of the recipe I am sharing with you today. This recipe is delicious as it was printed, but with any recipe, I love to make it my own and I hope you will too!
How to Make a Peach Dump Cake Recipe
Summer has such a wonderful bounty of fruits from Peaches, to Apricots, Plums, Cherries, Nectarines, and so much more! I think summer is always the perfect time to create new versions of dump cakes, and I have done just that with this recipe!
Whether you need a dish for a Backyard BBQ, a Summer Potluck, or you simply want to bless your family table with a delicious dessert, this Peach Dump Cake Recipe will do the trick! It is simple, and flavorful, and as you are cooking it your home will be filled with the aroma of summers fruit bounty! The truth is with a dump cake, there is no mixing, no whisking, no challenge. You simply layer the ingredients in the order they are present. You “dump” them into the pan.
In fact, when I made this Peach Dump Cake this week, we had to run an errand in the middle of it baking. When we returned and opened the door, we were greeted by the most wonderful aroma of fresh cooking peaches, brown sugar, and pineapple. YUM!
As a blogger at least one time a week I make my poor family wait while I photograph pictures of breakfast, dinner or desert while their mouths water. So, they naturally asked if they would need to wait while I created a photo shoot! LOL. The smell was too wonderful! I told them I would take two quick pics as they came to the table, and then we could all dive in. And it was worth the 2 minute wait! So warm and delicious, packed with flavor, and married with cold Häagen–Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream! Yum!
Use Fresh Peaches or Frozen Peaches
As I mentioned, you can make this recipe truly your own. The original recipe calls for bags of frozen peaches, and I have made it with frozen peaches during the winter months. But since it’s summer, I recommend using fresh peaches. This week, I had the kind of peaches that as I sat at the table working earlier in the day their scent filled the room!
I also had a few Nectarines, and some Donut Peaches, so I layered those in as well. In the past I have also added blueberries, as blueberries and peaches compliment each other so well! You could use this recipe and use plums, or peaches and cherries for a more piquant flavor. I have never tried it with berries, but I think that a mixture of blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries would make an amazing dump cake too! The sky is the limit!
The Gift of a Peach Dump Cake
As I write this post, we are in the middle of shelter in place for the Covid 19 Coronavirus. People are missing large events, and church potlucks, but still need that emotional boost we receive when we share a meal. So, why not buy a pan to give away (I have linked to some of my favorites on Amazon below). When it arrives, make a beautiful peach dump cake, and take it to someone who needs a little pick me up. Leave it on the porch if you need to stay socially distanced for your health or theirs, and call them when you get to the car. I am sure they will be so blessed.
Or, maybe you know of someone who has recently had a baby, had surgery, or been through a divorce. So many things can challenge our life, and a gift of food can be such a treat to lighten the load. In the past I have cut the recipe in half, added a little extra fruit, and filled two 8×8 pans. Then I kept one for my family and gave one to a family needing a pick me up.
